Governor Rick Perry's 2004 Proclamation

The federal government is officially recognizing May 2004 as National Motorcycle Safety and Awareness Month, thanks to the efforts of retiring U.S. Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell of Colorado. Campbell, an avid rider and longtime advocate of motorcycling causes, introduced Senate Resolution 168 which was passed by unanimous consent of the U.S. Senate on April 28th, 2004

This year, members of TMRA set up a few meetings to pick up proclamations in person & received many others by mail using a form letter they send out in Feb to over 1200 Texas cities. Current TMRA Pres, Mark Worcester, does not share the same views concerning media coverage as being the most effective way to increase driver awareness. However, his agenda did include setting up a few 3 minute presentations to promote placement of
Share the Road signs. Good work TMRA - hope to work together again in 2005

This is why we need the proclamations and media coverage to increase driver awareness and safety...
Last Friday on the way back from getting the proclamation from the city of Humble a high school student passed American Legion Rider Rex Dexter on the right in the middle of a curve knocking him down and kept on going. Rex is all right only got a little road rash and a twisted ankle but his bike might not be fixed in time for the Pasadena proclamation.
